One One Collective

One One Dutty Build Dam....

I have always loved proverbs. They seem to have the ability to bring light and light heartedness to a situation. Based on general observations about the world around us, they connect us to our community, to a larger wisdom, and to an innate truth.

"One one dutty build dam" is a West Indian proverb I grew up hearing. It literally means "brick by brick you can build a dam" or "every little bit adds up." It is an inspirational reminder that little by little a lot is achieved. One one also means in time. Anything can be achieved in time.

I hope here you will find the beginning of an adventure you will build on One One.

Why Share Your Journey With Me

Are you looking for something a little different?

These modalities offer a multidimensional support for children, adolescents and adults looking to develop healthy coping skills to help alleviate the mental and physical impact of stress

I am a New York trained, registered art therapist with over twenty years’ experience. I have a background in education as an elementary school teacher and secondary school art teacher. In New York I worked as an art therapist/substance abuse counselor, NADA acu-detox specialist and jin shin jyutsu practitioner. I also trained with Acupuncturists Without Borders to utilize acu-detox treatments for disaster and trauma relief.

I created a private practice providing art therapy, acu-detox and jin shin jyutsu to children and adults in Guyana and developed a counselling program at a private school. I was allowed to integrate acu-detox and acu-bead treatments into my work with nursery and secondary age students, mainly for behavioural issues associated with ADD/ADHD but ultimately to help students cope with tremendous stressors such as abuse, grief, anxiety and depression. I also provided treatment as stress management to parents and staff.

These modalities offer a wonderful compliment to existing services yet may also stand alone to offer support and empowerment in circumstances of stress and overwhelm.

I feel fortunate to have worked in many different settings and with clients of various ages, backgrounds, and circumstances and to have witnessed, first hand the benefit and success of these powerful tools.

Modalities

As you explore you will find these modalities have something in common, the ability to offer you space, a moment or two in time where you may catch your breath.

1

Art Therapy

So you think art therapy is not for you because you're not an artist, well stick figure drawings are welcomed. An open mind, willingness to play and explore is all that is required. You'll be amazed that you are more creative than you think.

2

Acu-Detox

Did someone say ouch. Fear of needles or feeling pain present the biggest resistance to this treatment. It doesn't hurt...really! Well maybe an initial pinch but then comes the relaxation. Some people even fall asleep, no kidding.

3

Jin Shin Jyutsu

Cool thing about this is that you don't even have to disrobe. Come in comfortable clothes, lie down and relax. You may talk if you want, fall asleep if you like. It's rather a compliment to hear you snore.
